Anawhata Beach is the ultimate summer hotspot for all adventure-seekers and beach bums out there! Located just an hour's drive from Auckland Central, Anawhata is one of Auckland's best kept secret beach on the west coast.
Getting there won’t be an easy ride but it’s totally worth it! To access the area, take the road towards Piha and turn off around the top of the hill down the gravel Anawhata road. It's a 10-kilometres gravel road that winds through the forest and out to the coast. At the end of the road, you'll find the Anawhata parking lot, which has a spectacular view of Anawhata Beach. But the effort doesn’t stop here. To reach the beach, you will need to walk 20 minutes. The track down to the beach isn’t difficult but the climb back up might make you sweat.
Picture this - black sand, clear water, and towering cliffs that provide the most breathtaking views. That's right, Anawhata Beach has got it all! It's a haven for surfers, with rolling waves that offer endless opportunities for surfing, boogie-boarding, and bodysurfing. But even if you're not into surfing, the beach provides plenty of opportunities for swimming, sunbathing, or just relaxing. Definetely a beach to add to your must-visit list!
